"Paradox" Talent Show

Leos came, they sang, they danced and conquered... this is no
description of a martial victory but of a triumph of a different kind!
Hotel School Auditorium in Colombo was the venue for PARADOX Talent
Show on 12th of December 2009. It surely was a big day for District
306A2 as they proudly presented the Leos of diverse talents and varied
backgrounds with one thing in common- a passion for achieve as a team.

Leo Club of Werahera, Polgasowita, Matthegoda, Kalubowila, UOM and
Dehiwala East were able to put together a talent show name as “PARADOX”
in which Leos could display their individual forms of expression in a
wide arena. After ages, Leos of District 306A2 were unable to show
their individuality; most Leo projects have been focusing on sports and
service.

The original idea of the project was brought forth to District Council
306A2 and District President Leo Dumindu Jayakody gave his utmost
support for the show. Registration forms were sent by mail and after
registering the Leos practicing were done whole days and nights at DP’s
home. Resident of DP was the home for the Leos during the hard and
endless practicing days. Practices went on growing the brotherhood
among Leos, who spent 24 hours under one roof to make the dream of
Fantastic show in to a reality.

Raising funds were done by selling tickets and by obtaining the banner sponsorships. Apart from the organizing clubs Leo Club of Egodawatta, Leo Club of
Horana Metro and Leo Club of Dampe supported enormously in various
ways.
Final rehearsal, in which acts where viewed by the organizing committee
under leadership of Ishan Udayanga to determine appropriate, was held
on December 10th 2009 at Camilla School Auditorium.

Decorations were done by Leos throughout the previous night of the
Talent show, at last it was amazing and completely non conventional and
visualized the stage as Bus stop in a town area.

The band was created in a very short time and their performances at the
PARADOX show were very professional and impressive. The band was
consisted of Leos from various clubs in the district:

The programme was a mix of innovative items like plays, ballets and
many other interesting performances by the Leos. These items were real
gags whilst full of lessons on various social issues and trends. There
was a special act as a beggar by Leo Dileepa Jayakody which signified
the reality of present Sri Lanka; we spend on our usual life style
entertaining ourselves ignoring the community suffering by poverty.

It was one fantastic performance after another. What ever talent, hobby
or skill they possessed Leos have really just taken control of it and honed, worked on it, perfected it.
The result was an extremely successful production, featuring 57 Leos in
28 acts. The Visiting Leos, parents, Lions and Lion Ladies were able to
attend the final performance and experience the aptitude of Leos. All
admired the efforts of the Leos and said that the event has been able
to achieve its objectives and is well suited to bring a paradigm shift
in the thought pattern and fellowship of the Leos of the District.

It was a great evening to Leos of District 306A2 who rocked out the House!!!
