Leo District 306A2 :: History
Leo district 306A2 was created due to the redistricting of Leo district 306A2. Redistricting process was clearly disadvantageous for the leos of 306A2 as all the experienced leos and leo clubs were with district 306A1. However a new Leo district was formed under the leadership of PMP Leo Shehan Kumar and PDP Leo Dhashanthie Gamalthge. PDP Mr. Niroshan Silva assisted the formation of district 306A2 by providing necessary leadership training and motivation. Leo Sadeepa Palliyaguru was elected as the inaugural district president of district 306A2. First installation ceremony of the district was held on 11th December 2005 under the patronage of the district governor of district governor of district 306A2 Lion Rohantha De Fonseka. Few dedicated leos including Leo Chamari Senanayaka , Leo Sepalika Perera and Leo Uditha De Silva along with district president leo sadeepa took the challenge of reorganizing the leo district.
During the first leoistic year Leo district 306A2 recorded a slow but steady growth. 3 new Leo clubs , Leo club of Godigamuwa , Leo Club of Moragahahena and Leo club of Bokundara was inaugurated within the leoistic year 2004/2005. Several district level projects were organized by the council in the year 2004/2005. This included a leadership camp jointly organized with Leo district 306A1 and a club officer's workshop. This year concluded with one of the best Leo conferences ever held by a leo district. Furthermore the success of district 306A2 was reflected at the multiple district conference where leos of 306A2 received several key awards.
Leo Sameera Wijesinghe was the next leader to take the reins of district 306A2. Sameera worked under the slogan "Archiving Success through Synergy" Sameera united the leo district 306A2 and PDP Leo Sameera's year is known as an year of development. Leo Camp held at Hanthana by Leo district 306A2 was a key highlight of the year 2005/2006. This camp was attended by a large participation of leos from various clubs. During this year Leo club of Werahara was inaugurated with the support of Lions club of Werahara.
Leo Sameera's successor was Leo Nadeesha Ranganath Palliyaguru. Leo Nadeesha was the third district president of Leo district 306A2 and is from Leo club of Piliyandala. Under the theme "Success through Innovation" Leo Nadeesha organized many events to take the Leo district 306A2 to greater heights. He established 8 new Leo clubs within his leoistic year. Leo club of Openarc sponsored by Lions club of Polgasowita was inaugurated on the day of council installation and within the year 2007/2008 another 7 leo clubs were established. They are Leo clubs of Raigampurawaraya Central and Raigampurawaraya Golden Jubilee bu Lions Club of Raigampurawaraya , Leo club of Raththanapitiya , Leo club of Egodawatta , Leo Club of Matugama and Leo Club of Beliatta.
That year was concluded by a glamorous Leo conference held at excel world auditorium. Lion Kamal Seneviratne , district governor m, district 306A2 and IPMP ILO Lion Shehan Kumar were there chief guests of this occasion. This event was attended by a large gathering of the Leos and is considered to be the most successful leo conference ever held.
Leo Chathura Deshapriya of Leo club of Moragahahena was elected as the district president for the year 2008/2009. Under the motto "Synergy is Power" Leo Chathura plans to develop the unity of clubs and to enhance the club administration.
