Leo Camp

Sri Lanka, Democratic Socialist Republic of (Press Release) March 14, 2009 -- Hanthana , Kandy , Sri Lanka.

The annual youth camp of Leo district 306A2 was held on 6th, 7th and 8th March 2009 at Rathnasiri Wickramanayaka Training Center , Hanthana. This camp was named as “Leo Camp 2009 : Success through Synergy”. More than 90 leo club members belonging to different leo clubs participated in this 3 day youth camp. In addition several guests and parents also participated in this event.

The camp events included different sessions on team building, leadership development and capacity building programs. It also included an out bound training program and a meditation program. Ven Wallawatthe Seelagavesi thero from Spring valley meditation center and Mr. Manju Gunawardana participated as special resource persons. All the participants were divided in to7 groups and all the members participated in each activity as teams.
This event also included a colorful camp fire where all the participating leo club members showed their talents. It included colorful fireworks and drama organized by different teams.

Closing ceremony of the Leo camp was graced by the mayor of the city of Kandy His Worship Mr. L.B Aluvihare. In his speech he stated that youth are the future of this country and he urged all the people to be courageous and try to achieve excellence in everything they do. According to Leo Sameera Hewage who participated in this camp this is the best youth camp ever held and he thanked the organizers for their dedication. “Developing unity and understanding among leo club members was the key objective of this camp” stated Leo Dinusha somasiri , Chairman of the Leo youth camp 2009.

Leo M Janaka Prasad from Leo club of Dehiwala East was awarded the best camper and the team Blue Diamonds was selected as the best team.
